How Palacast works

Palacast is a prediction market. Each market is a question about a real event. You stake CAST on the answer you expect, and if you're right you get a share of everything staked on that market.

1
Pick a sideEvery market is a question. Pick Yes or No. The percentage shows how likely people think it is right now.
2
Stake some CASTEnter an amount. The panel shows what you get back if you win. That number moves as other people stake.
3
Win, or sell earlyWhen the market settles, the winning side splits the pool. Want out earlier? List your points and another trader can buy them.

Chances, not prices

Each outcome shows a percentage. It's the chance the market gives that outcome right now, based on everything staked so far. Over 50% means people lean Yes, under 50% means No.

The dial and the buttons show the same number.

The percentage is also the price you stake at. Enter an amount and the panel shows your payout if you win, before you confirm.

One shared pool

All stakes on a market, Yes and No, go into one pool. Your stake buys points. When the market settles, the pool is split among the winning side by points.

Palacast takes a small fee from the winning pool at settlement. That is the only fee. Staking, listing and buying listings cost nothing.

Selling early

You can't sell back to the pool, but you can list your points at a price you set. Another trader buys them and pays you. The pool stays the same, so the odds don't move.

A listing of 161 Yes points at 0.71 CAST each.

Buying a listing works the other way. You take over someone's points at their price. The panel shows whether that's cheaper or more expensive than staking directly.

How markets settle

When the event is decided, the market settles Yes or No according to the rules on its page. Winnings go to your balance automatically.

Resolved: YesResolved: NoCancelled

If a question can't be settled fairly, the market is cancelled and everyone gets their share of the pool back. If you bought points from another trader, you get the pool share behind those points, not the price you paid.

Common questions

Can I lose more than I stake?

No. The most you can lose is the amount you put in.

Why did the payout change before I confirmed?

Someone staked while you were typing and the pool moved. You get the amount you confirm, within 2%.

What happens if I do nothing with my points?

They settle on their own. Winnings go to your balance. Losing points expire.
